TCF Canada Result Validity and Retake Wait Time
IRCC requires TCF Canada results to be less than two years old when you complete an Express Entry profile and when you submit a permanent-residence application. The FEI 2026 calendar says a new sitting of the same test version can be scheduled after at least 20 days. Put the test date, issue date, expiry date, profile date, and submission date on one timeline rather than checking only the invitation date.
The two-year Express Entry rule
IRCC lists TCF Canada among the accepted French tests and requires results that are less than two years old when the Express Entry profile is completed and when the permanent-residence application is submitted. An invitation does not automatically extend results that expire before submission.
If your result will expire
If results will expire before the planned submission, IRCC says to take the test again, submit before expiry, or decline the invitation and return to the pool. The right choice depends on the program, timing, and file; this guide is not legal advice.
The 20-day retake interval
The FEI 2026 calendar says candidates may register for another sitting of the same TCF version 20 days after the previous sitting. Leave at least 20 days between two TCF Canada tests, then confirm actual seats, registration deadlines, delivery format, and fees with the approved centre.
Connect the result to your study plan
Record all four scores, identify the required NCLC level, and schedule timed practice for the weakest abilities. The site's converter and practice sets support planning; they cannot extend official result validity. Another immigration program may apply a different submission rule.
Frequently asked questions
- How long are TCF Canada results valid?
- For Express Entry, results must be less than two years old at profile completion and permanent-residence submission; check the target program's rule too.
- How long must I wait between TCF Canada tests?
- The FEI 2026 calendar says at least 20 days between two sittings of the same test version.
- What if my result expires after I receive an invitation?
- An invitation does not extend validity; retest, submit before expiry, or decline and return to the pool under IRCC's current options.
- Can practice scores extend official validity?
- No. Practice sets and the TCF-to-NCLC converter help planning only and cannot change an official issue or expiry date.
