An Entrepreneur EOI is a scored and ranked expression of interest, not a nomination application. Only selected Graduate, Foreign Graduate, or Rural Entrepreneur candidates receive a request to submit a Business Application; Farm Stream uses a separate paper application path.

EOI is not the Business Application

An Entrepreneur Expression of Interest (EOI) is a scored and ranked expression of interest, not an application for nomination. Only selected candidates receive a request or invitation to submit a Business Application. Meeting minimum criteria or entering the pool does not itself create a right to apply.

Finish the draft before submission

The online EOI draft must be completed and submitted within 120 days of being started. The submitted information must be complete, true, current and supported by the stream-specific evidence. A draft that is not submitted in time is purged and does not enter the qualified pool.

The qualified pool lasts 12 months

An eligible EOI is placed in the qualified pool for 12 months from its original submission. If it is not selected during that period, it is cancelled and a new EOI must be assessed under the criteria in place when the new submission is made.

Selection is ranked and discretionary

AAIP scores and ranks the EOI using the applicable stream grid. The highest-ranking candidates may be asked to submit a Business Application, but selection is affected by the pool, application volumes, available nominations and program priorities. Pool entry does not guarantee an invitation or request.

After the request arrives

For the online Graduate Entrepreneur, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur and Rural Entrepreneur streams, the Business Application must be completed and submitted within 90 days of receiving the AAIP request. Only a candidate who receives the request can access the Business Application stage.

Do not change the EOI after selection

After AAIP sends the request to submit a Business Application, changes to the submitted EOI are not accepted. The Business Application must remain consistent with the EOI, and the evidence supplied later must support the information used for selection. Discrepancies can lead to a declined submission.

Approval is not nomination

A Business Application Approval Letter is not a provincial nomination certificate. In the ordinary pathway, approval leads to the Business Performance Agreement and further operating and reporting obligations before a Final Report for Nomination. A nomination is also separate from IRCC permanent residence.

Farm Stream is separate

Graduate Entrepreneur, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur and Rural Entrepreneur use Entrepreneur EOI selection, while Farm Stream does not use Entrepreneur EOI. Farm Stream has a separate paper application and business-plan path, so do not apply the online invitation deadline or evidence sequence to a Farm file.
