AAIP Entrepreneur EOI Points Grids and TCF Canada Scores

The three Entrepreneur EOI grids are not interchangeable: Graduate Entrepreneur Stream has a maximum 125 points, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream has a maximum 200 points, and Rural Entrepreneur Stream has a maximum 175 points. EOI scores rank candidates; they do not replace mandatory criteria or guarantee an invitation.

Mandatory criteria and ranking points are different

Mandatory eligibility and pass/fail items sit outside or within the grids as labelled. A high total cannot repair a failed mandatory criterion. An EOI is scored and ranked; higher-ranking candidates may be asked for a Business Application, where eligibility and claimed EOI points undergo verification. Alberta does not publish one fixed invitation score cutoff for every selection, and a self-estimated score does not guarantee an invitation or selection.

Graduate Entrepreneur Stream: maximum 125

The Graduate Entrepreneur Stream has a total 125: business establishment 75, human capital 25, and adaptability 25. Its rows are experience maximum 15, economic benefit maximum 40, investment maximum 20, language maximum 15, Alberta education maximum 10, age maximum 5, spouse/common-law characteristics maximum 10, and Alberta relatives maximum 10. For Graduate, language and education are mandatory; the remaining scored rows are ranking factors and are not mandatory core criteria.

Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream: maximum 200

The Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream has a total 200. It awards language maximum 30, education maximum 35, business management or ownership maximum 35, business plan maximum 40, pre-launch investment maximum 25, additional investment maximum 20, and job creation maximum 15. A separate pass/fail grid covers ownership, qualifying sector, settlement funds, pitch deck, and designated-agency recommendation. Points cannot replace any pass/fail item.

Rural Entrepreneur Stream: maximum 175

The Rural Entrepreneur Stream has a total 175: rural factor 25, business experience 20, business establishment 60, human capital 35, and adaptability 35. Rows include business location maximum 25; owner-manager or senior-manager experience maximum 20; investment maximum 20; net worth maximum 10; job creation maximum 20; succession maximum 10; language maximum 25; education maximum 10; Canada/Alberta experience maximum 15; relatives maximum 10; spouse/common-law language or education maximum 5; and age maximum 5. For a Rural new business, at least one job is mandatory; succession treats job creation differently and it is not mandatory.

Exact TCF Canada thresholds from NCLC 4 to 9

In speaking/listening/reading/writing order: NCLC 4 starts at speaking 4, listening 331, reading 342, writing 4; NCLC 5 at speaking 6, listening 369, reading 375, writing 6; NCLC 6 at speaking 7, listening 398, reading 406, writing 7; NCLC 7 at speaking 10, listening 458, reading 453, writing 10; NCLC 8 at speaking 12, listening 503, reading 499, writing 12; and NCLC 9 at speaking 14, listening 523, reading 524, writing 14. Every ability must reach the same claimed NCLC; stronger abilities cannot compensate for a lower one. Results must be less than 2 years old at EOI submission.

Language points differ by stream

Graduate: NCLC 7 gives 5 points, NCLC 8 gives 12 points, and NCLC 9 or higher gives 15 points. Foreign Graduate: NCLC 5 gives 10 points, NCLC 6 gives 15 points, NCLC 7 gives 20 points, and NCLC 8 or higher gives 30 points. Rural: NCLC 4 gives 15 points, NCLC 5 gives 20 points, and NCLC 6 or higher gives 25 points. First find the lowest common band across all four abilities, then use the intended stream's row.

Official self-assessment tools and limits

Alberta provides a self-assessment tool for each stream to screen basic requirements. The outcome is for reference only and does not determine an EOI score, invitation, approval, or nomination. This page is not an official calculator. Farm Stream has a separate paper application and does not use the Entrepreneur EOI points grids, so it is outside this guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do the three AAIP Entrepreneur EOIs have the same maximum score?
No. Graduate has 125, Foreign Graduate 200, and Rural 175. Their totals measure different grids and should not be compared as if they were one scale.
Can a high score replace a mandatory criterion?
No. Mandatory and pass/fail items must each be met; points cannot cure an eligibility failure.
How do TCF Canada results earn language points?
Find the lowest NCLC reached in all four abilities, then use the language row for the intended stream.
Is there a guaranteed AAIP Entrepreneur EOI cutoff?
No. EOI ranking does not create a guaranteed cutoff or invitation, and claimed points are verified later.
Is this an official AAIP points calculator?
No. It is a study guide to the published grids. Use Alberta's live pages and tools, and rely on AAIP assessment for the official result.
