AAIP Entrepreneur nomination extension and withdrawal
An AAIP Entrepreneur nomination normally gives six months to submit the federal permanent residence application. An extension is not automatic and is separate from a Business Performance Agreement change or a work-permit request; apply to IRCC before expiry and follow the current stream-specific Alberta page.
Four actions are different
A permanent residence application, nomination extension, Business Performance Agreement term change, and work-permit request are four different actions. A provincial nomination is not IRCC's federal decision and is not work authorization by itself.
The six-month PR window
The nomination is valid for 6 months for the permanent residence application. Apply to IRCC before it expires. If the certificate has expired, AAIP reviews the reasons for an extension request; a pending request is not an approved nomination or federal application.
Common extension limits
The Graduate Entrepreneur, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur, Rural Entrepreneur and Farm Stream pages say an extension is not guaranteed. The published pages also limit a nominee to one extension and require the candidate to continue meeting the original conditions.
Stream-specific differences
Graduate Entrepreneur, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur, Rural Entrepreneur and Farm Stream each have a separate after-nomination page. Farm Stream uses a different submission path, so do not generalize another stream's report, evidence, or request process.
BPA and work permit are separate
A Business Performance Agreement term request addresses the operating agreement, while a work-permit request is decided through the applicable IRCC or AAIP support route. Both are different from a nomination extension. Nomination does not automatically renew or authorize a work permit; maintain legal status.
Withdrawal has two meanings
A candidate may request withdrawal of a Business Application before nomination; AAIP must confirm the withdrawal and the withdrawn application is not simply reactivated. After nomination, AAIP may withdraw the nomination if the candidate no longer meets the conditions or provided false or misleading information.
Reading portal status
AAIP's helpful hints describe Certificate Issued, Certificate Extension Issued and Withdrawn as different portal status values. Withdrawn can mean a request by the candidate or representative, or withdrawal by the Government of Alberta; it is not an IRCC permanent residence status.
IRCC, BOWP and evidence
IRCC makes the federal permanent residence decision, and AAIP cannot provide the federal case status. After a PR application, AOR and IRCC file number, a bridging open work permit (BOWP) may be possible if all eligibility requirements are met, but it is not guaranteed.
