AAIP Entrepreneur after nomination

After AAIP nomination, submit a complete permanent residence application through IRCC's non-Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program before the nomination expires, normally within six months. Nomination is not permanent residence approval and does not automatically renew a work permit, so keep legal status and continue meeting the applicable business conditions.

Review the nomination certificate

Review the nomination certificate for the name, stream, issue and expiry dates, and conditions. Keep a copy and follow the current AAIP letter and latest IRCC instructions rather than relying on an old checklist.

Apply for PR before expiry

Apply within 6 months and before the nomination expires. Use IRCC's non-Express Entry PNP path, include the nomination confirmation and required supporting documents, and confirm that the application is complete under the current package.

Post-nomination report for three streams

Graduate Entrepreneur, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur and Rural Entrepreneur candidates continue operating the business and submit a Business Progress Report 6 months after nomination. AAIP describes a two-week window, so use the exact dates in the candidate's notice.

Farm Stream is different

The Farm Stream after-nomination page does not list the same Business Progress Report. Do not generalize or apply the three-stream reporting rule to Farm Stream; follow the certificate and any file-specific AAIP request.

IRCC makes the federal decision

IRCC reviews medical or health, criminal, security and admissibility requirements and may request Business Performance Agreement or BPA information. AAIP cannot provide IRCC permanent residence application status updates.

Keep operating and report changes

Continue to operate the business and meet the nomination conditions. Keep AAIP and IRCC updated about personal or family, contact, representative and immigration status changes. AAIP may withdraw the nomination if conditions are no longer met or information is false or misleading.

Work permit and legal status

A nomination does not renew or authorize a work permit; maintain valid legal status. A bridging open work permit (BOWP) may be possible after the permanent residence application, acknowledgement of receipt (AOR), IRCC file number and all other eligibility requirements, but it is not guaranteed.

Extensions and established businesses

A nomination extension is conditional, case-by-case and not guaranteed. An established business candidate still follows the same federal IRCC path and must continue operation after nomination, although the earlier BPA and Final Report stage can differ.
