Using TCF Canada for Alberta Dedicated Health Care Pathway

Alberta's Dedicated Health Care Pathway has Express Entry and Non-Express Entry options. The Non-Express Entry option can use TCF Canada at NCLC 5 in all four abilities: speaking 6, listening 369, reading 375, and writing 6. The Express Entry option still follows the applicable federal program's language rule.

Common foundation for both options

Both options require a valid, verifiable job offer from an Alberta employer in the health sector in an eligible health care profession. You must also provide verifiable proof that you meet the applicable regulatory organization's minimum requirements for ability to practise in Alberta. Use Alberta's live profession list when applying.

Express Entry option

You need an active Express Entry profile, and the primary occupation in that profile must be an eligible health care occupation. You also need a CRS score of 300 or more and eligibility under the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Federal Skilled Worker Program. The Express Entry option does not impose a universal NCLC 5; the applicable federal program sets the language threshold.

Non-Express Entry option

This option is for candidates who do not qualify for the Alberta Express Entry Stream. If you can create an Express Entry profile with a score of 300 or more, you must use the Express Entry option. The two routes are not simply interchangeable preferences.

Using TCF Canada for NCLC 5

The Non-Express Entry option requires NCLC 5 in all four French abilities or language sufficient for professional licensure. For TCF Canada, NCLC 5 starts at speaking 6, listening 369, reading 375, and writing 6. Official results must be less than 2 years old from the test date when you apply, and test registration is not a result.

Professional registration and special proof

Successful professional registration can demonstrate language sufficient for licensure, but it is not a general test waiver. Licensed Practical Nurses who met licensing language through employer verification of mainly English health services still need an accepted test at level 5 in all abilities. Clinical Social Workers must provide the licensing language exam or an accepted level-5 test.

Work status and Alberta intent

A Non-Express Entry candidate already working in Alberta needs a valid work permit or maintained status when applying. Both options require intent and ability to live and work permanently in Alberta, while the job offer and regulatory proof must remain eligible at application and assessment.

Worker EOI and invitation

AAIP worker routes begin with a Worker Expression of Interest, or Worker EOI, followed by selection and an invitation to apply. Meeting the TCF score, CRS 300, registration, or minimum eligibility does not guarantee an invitation, nomination, or permanent residence.
