CRS French Points: 25 or 50 Additional Points?

IRCC converts listening, reading, writing, and speaking separately. Any ability below NCLC 7 prevents the French-language additional points; a higher score in another ability cannot compensate. Convert each TCF Canada result using the current IRCC table.

The 25-point and 50-point split

After all four French abilities reach NCLC 7, the amount is 50 points if all four English abilities are CLB 5 or higher. It is 25 points if all four English abilities are CLB 4 or lower, or if no English test was taken. For a partial English profile, use the official CRS calculator rather than guessing from a total.

Do not carry forward old job-offer points

IRCC removed CRS points for job offers for current and future candidates in the Express Entry pool as of March 25, 2025. A job offer may still matter for program eligibility or another pathway, but the old 50- or 200-point CRS addition should not be included.

Additional points do not guarantee an invitation

The points change your CRS total but do not replace Express Entry program eligibility or the instructions for a round. Cut-offs and rounds change, so treat the official calculator result as planning information, not an invitation promise.
