CLB vs NCLC: TCF Canada Score Conversion Guide
CLB is the Canadian benchmark framework for English and NCLC is the framework for French. They are parallel language-level frameworks used in immigration, not a direct translation of one test's raw score into another. TCF Canada listening, reading, writing, and speaking must each be converted to NCLC with the current IRCC table; English tests are converted to CLB.
What CLB and NCLC mean
CLB describes English and NCLC describes French. An Express Entry page may therefore require English CLB 7 or French NCLC 7. The same number identifies a benchmark level, not the same raw score, test format, or scoring range.
Convert all four TCF abilities
A single total cannot determine a TCF Canada NCLC level. Convert listening, reading, writing, and speaking separately with the current IRCC table, then check the lowest ability against the target program. Each ability has its own score intervals.
Program thresholds are different
