TCF Canada 8-Week Study Plan

Use four two-week phases: diagnose your level and learn the format in weeks 1–2, train listening and reading in weeks 3–4, train writing and speaking in weeks 5–6, then complete timed mock tests and error review in weeks 7–8. This eight-week plan is an editorial training recommendation, not an official schedule or a pass guarantee.

Weeks 1–2: diagnostic and format

Complete one timed listening set and one timed reading set, plus one writing and one speaking task. Record the result, time used, and recurring error for each skill. Check the official structure before increasing practice volume.

Weeks 3–4: listening and reading

Schedule two or three complete skill sessions each week. Classify listening errors as missed information, vocabulary, or pace; classify reading errors as locating evidence, inference, or time management. Use the error list to choose the next session.

Weeks 5–6: writing and speaking

Rotate through all three writing and speaking tasks. For writing, review task completion, structure, links, and accuracy. For speaking, review interaction, questions, argumentation, and fluency. Use a framework to organize ideas, not a memorized response.

Weeks 7–8: timed rehearsal and review

Practise under official time limits, then use the next session only for errors and the lowest skill. In the final week, reduce new material and correct the problems that still repeat.

Frequently asked questions

Is eight weeks enough to prepare for TCF Canada?
It depends on your starting level, target, and weekly time. Eight weeks can support one complete diagnostic, skill-training, and mock-test cycle, but it cannot guarantee an NCLC level. Rebalance the plan around your lowest skill every two weeks.
How many hours per week should I study for TCF Canada?
Start with six to ten hours split across four to six short sessions, including one complete timed session. This is a training recommendation; consistent practice and careful error review matter more than one very long session.
What should I prioritize if I have fewer than eight weeks?
Take a diagnostic first, prioritize the lowest skill, and keep timed practice in the other three. Focus on recurring error causes, writing task completion, and a clear speaking structure instead of dividing time equally.
